Date: 16 November 2024
Time: 10:30 - 13:30
Location: Museum Gallery
Admission: Free with museum admission (Admission free for children)

Make and decorate lanterns to celebrate two Thai festivals of light.

Yi Peng, sometimes called the Sky Lantern Festival, and Loy Krathong, also known as the Water Lantern Festival, are two festivals that take place near the end of November in Thailand.

Carry away your bad luck and remember your ancestors by making a lantern for Yi Peng. As part of the activity, you will receive a white paper lantern that you can decorate along with a small LED lightbulb to see your designs lit up.

Make a ‘floating lantern’ called a krathong to celebrate the Goddess of Water for Loy Krathong. Use our pattern to make a floating lantern that could hold a tea light. When you get home you can see how long yours can float for!

Please read the following booking information carefully.

Booking is essential for this event. Please book a separate ticket for each individual child that will be decorating a lantern.

Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Accompanying adults will need to purchase an admission ticket from the front desk upon arrival to the Museum.
