Accessibility

At the Museum of East Asian Art we are committed to making our space as accessible to as many people as possible and aim to create an environment where everyone feels welcome.

If you have any questions before your visit, please get in touch by sending an email to info@meaa.org.uk or call us on 01225 464640.

Opening Times

We are open Tuesday to Saturday, 10:30  to 17:00.

Quieter Times

  • The Museum is usually quieter on weekday mornings, although this is not guaranteed.
  • We do not have a dedicated quiet space at the Museum.

Lift

  • The shop, galleries and toilets are accessible by lift.
  • Lift dimensions: 73cm wide and 110cm deep.
  • There are display cases on the stairwells throughout the building. These are not wheelchair accessible and can only be accessed via stairs.

Large Print Text

Large print versions of text are available on each floor of the Museum.

If you are unable to access the display cases on the stairwells, copies of the text alongside images of the objects can be found on each accessible floor at the museum. Copies are also available at the front desk—ask our Front of House team for more information.

Toilets

Accessible toilets, gender neutral toilets, and baby changing facilities can be found in the basement of the Museum.

MEAA does not have a Changing Places Toilet (CPT). The nearest CPT facilities are at Bath Sports and Leisure Centre and SouthGate Bath shopping centre. For more CPT information for Bath, click here.

Seating

Red folding stools are available to use in the gallery spaces. Cushions are also available to use during your visit if you would like to sit on the floor. If you require a seat with a back, you will find benches located on the first and second floor of the Museum.

There is no parking available at the Museum, but there is on-street parking and car parks available within a short walking distance of the Museum.

There are a limited number of parking spaces available on Bennett Street, which are pay and display, for a maximum of 2 hours.
