In An Embroiderer’s Guide to Time and Thread – A Dialogue with the Past, Korean embroidery artist and author Heehwa Jo invites audiences to journey through time, tradition, and creativity. In this online talk, she shares how her practice bridges centuries — reproducing, reinterpreting, and reimagining Korean embroidery heritage through her own contemporary lens. From studying the techniques of historical artisans to creating original works inspired by their legacy, she reflects on how embroidery becomes a form of time travel — a conversation stitched across generations.
Currently at MEAA are a selection of Heehwa’s works on show until Saturday 20 December.
This event is offered on a Pay What You Can basis. We believe in the accessibility of arts and culture to everyone, no matter their financial circumstances.
