Introduced by Dr Nicole Chiang (Curator, MEAA).
Both biography and autobiography, this documentary film offers an exclusive insight into Hong Ling’s life and art. Hong Ling (b. 1955), is a renowned Chinese artist, who blends the traditions of Chinese landscape philosophy with oil painting techniques, and has devoted decades to exploring and expressing his beloved natural surroundings.
The film includes interviews with Hong Ling at his home in Huangshan, Anhui Province, China, by Professor Shane McCausland from the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London. Huangshan is a UNESCO World Heritage site in eastern China, and Ling’s home is both studio and retreat, where he draws inspiration from the landscape and natural surroundings for his work.
