From studying the techniques of historical artisans to creating original works inspired by their legacy, she reflects on how embroidery becomes a form of time travel — a conversation stitched across generations.
Heehwa Jo is a Korean embroidery artist whose works have been showcased at prestigious international exhibitions like Homo Faber in Venice and Craft Trend Fair in Seoul. With a decade of expertise, her innovative fusion of traditional Korean embroidery and contemporary design continues to captivate global audiences. Through her artistry, publications, and workshops, she is redefining the cultural narrative of Korean embroidery on the world stage. Currently at MEAA are a selection of Heehwa’s works on show until Saturday 20 December.
