event image for Adventures in Ink: Contemporary Chinese Painting
Date: 3 May 2018
Time: 19:00 - 20:00
Location: Bath Royal Literary and Scientific Institution (BRLSI)
Admission: Public £6; Friends/ Students £4

As we start a six-month solo exhibition by acclaimed ink artist Zhang Yanzi, the theme of wellness links the artist to the City of Bath. In this talk, Zhang Yanzi’s work is placed in the context of other masters of the genre who are re-shaping the way we see the world around us.

Henrietta Tsui-Leung will present a perspective on the evolution of Chinese ink painting: how an ancient art form has come to embody the dynamism and innovative spirit of the region. Drawing on personal influences and experimentation as much as tradition, artists are investigating themes that resonate deeply with the world of today.

Henrietta Tsui-Leung, Phd Candidate, is the founder of Hong Kong-based Galerie Ora-Ora and Asia Ink Research. She is also a President Emeritus of the Hong Kong Art Galleries Association.

Artist Zhang Yanzi will also be present.
