event image for Chinese Woodblock Prints: Extraordinary Vision – Extraordinary Collection
Date: 7 December 2022
Time: 18:30 - 19:30 includes Q&A
Location: Zoom Online
Admission: £5, booking required.

Speakers: Christer von der Burg (founder Muban Educational Trust) and Haiyao Zheng (Secretary)

Christer von der Burg and the late Verena Bolinder-Müller, friends for many years, shared a love of Chinese woodblock prints and, in the late 1990s, became increasingly concerned with the gradual decline in woodblock printmaking in contemporary China.

Join us on a voyage of discovery into what inspired the foundation of the Muban Educational Trust (MET), and how the founders acquired the most significant works from the best contemporary artists in China over many years, amassing what is now a unique collection of over 6000 Chinese woodblock prints.

The MET (木版教育信托) is a registered charity based in south-west London dedicated to the research, collection and promotion of Chinese woodblock prints and printmaking.

This talk is part of our series of events associated with our exhibition ‘Revolution, Propaganda, Art: Printmaking in Modern China’ in association with the Muban Educational Trust.
