Recommended for children ages 6 to 10 (Year 1 to 6)

Musician and teacher, James Brookmyre, returns to the Museum of East Asian Art with some classic Japanese stories about friendship and kindness. From the comfort of your own homes journey to ancient Japan with James to meet Kappa, a benevolent river monster, and revisit the tale of Momotarō, the little boy who was born inside a giant peach. There will be an interactive drawing activity after the story reading session.

As this event is about friendship, we also invite children to bring their favourite toy or teddy bear to enjoy the story too!

You will need:

  • Something to draw on – Paper (any size)
  • Something to draw with – Pencil or coloured pencil and pens

This event will be held online on Zoom. You will receive the Zoom details and joining instructions near to the day of the event.  Please connect your phone or computer 5 minutes before the event is due to start and have some craft materials ready such as paper, colouring pens or pencils.
