There will be two Japanese prints on display from end of June after changing the permanent collection display. We take this opportunity to invite Naomi Collick to explain the technique and history of woodblock printing in Japan. From its development as an art form in the Tokugawa period (1603 – 1868), to the changes it underwent in the Meiji period from 1868, and the development of the Shin Hanga movement.
Naomi Collick graduated from Oxford University, majored in Japanese studies. Her particular interests are Japanese history and Japanese art.
